Hollywood Comes to Jo’s Nautical Bar

Hollywood Comes to Jo’s Nautical Bar

Hollywood rolled into town on July 22nd to film a scene for the upcoming thriller, ‘Altar Rock.’  Famed director/cinematographer, Andrzej Barkowiak, whose film credits include The Verdict, Terms of Endearment, Prizzi’s Honor, Speed, and the Mirror Has Two Faces, was looking for a ‘nautical bar’ to film a scene for the movie which is set in Nantucket.  Barkowiak chose Jo’s Nautical because he felt it was reminiscent of an old Nantucket Bar.  A film crew of 60+ along with 30 extras, catering trucks and wardrobe took over the dust bowl and the parking lot at Jo’s Nautical for the 7-hour shoot.

The movie, starring India Eisley and Scott Adkins, is based on the novel, ‘Altar Rock’ by Kristin Alexandre.  It’s a story of Nantucket teen, Tillie Gardner, who lost her parents in a plane crash.  Tillie becomes involved with a boy named Niko and is faced with tough decisions when she learns his older brother is planning a terrorist attack on the beach on July 4th.

The film is slated for release in summer, 2017.
